Follow Rt. 191 south to Mills River and the intersection with Rt. 280. Follow Rt. 280 south to the intersection of 280 and US 64, take 64 through Brevard. Follow 64 to the intersection of US 64 and Hwy 107 south near Cashiers. Follow 107 south to the South Carolina border and the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area. From Charlotte:4 hour drive time. Take I-85 south to the intersection of I-85 and I-26 near Spartanburg, South Carolina. Take I-26 north to the Highway 11 exit. Follow the signs and take Highway 11 all of the way to Walhalla, South Carolina. This is a very scenic drive and takes you the escarpment of mountains that forms the South Carolina foothills. From Greenville, S.C.:2 hour drive time. Take your favorite route to scenic Highway 11. Follow Highway 11 to Walhalla and take 107 north to the trail-head of your choice.
